War Eagle! I believe Auburn University is the best school in the nation. The tradition, family and passion are like no other. Throughout my time at Auburn, I have been pushed and stretched to compete to my fullest ability. Auburn University was my dream school to attend, so I am truly grateful for the time I have spent at this wonderful establishment. My favorite classes at Auburn have included International Public Relations, Sports Reporting and Multimedia Writing for Public Relations.
While taking International Public Relations my thoughts and ideas began to be stretched. During this class, one of our assignments included meeting with an international student. During my time with the student, I was able to learn about their culture and lifestyle. Once I was able to learn more about the student, we talked about the challenges they may face in the United States. I was also able to learn about international issues and how companies in the United States can be successful or fail in other countries. The main idea that I learned from this class was that you must take time to get to know the norms and customs of the country you want to bring your business to for success.
Sports Reporting was my favorite journalism class I took at Auburn. I enjoyed this class because sports and writing are a big piece of who I am. Taking a class about something you love is great, but taking a class with two things you love is even better. My class was able to cover an Auburn soccer, football and women’s basketball game.
Multimedia Writing for Public Relations taught me all of the important elements a public relations practitioner should successfully be able to write. Assignments included writing a backgrounder, news release, pitch letter, feature, media advisory, memo, a speech and a brochure. At the end of the semester, we built a media kit to display our work. We were able to write for a company we created ourselves, which was great because we wrote about what we were interested in.
